(sing with a Michael Bublé swing!)

I don’t want a lot for Christmas

There is just one thing I need

Don’t care about those presents, underneath the Christmas tree

I just want to change my view, to see potential for something new

Make my wish come true, all I want for Christmas is Tickety-Boo!

I won’t ask for much this Christmas, I won’t even wish for snow

I’m just gonna keep on learning, training, coaching, that’s my goal

There’s no sense in hanging stockings there up in the staff canteen

Secret Santa you won’t make me happy with a toy on Xmas Eve

I want a team day or a course, my Boss won’t need to even force

I will gladly develop skills, that’s where I get my greatest thrills.

Sales or service training count me in, for development where do I begin?

Health & Safety, Trainer Training, I’ll even do Food Hygiene!!

Everyone is learning, so our Company keeps on earning

Santa here’s my favourite solution, to help my organisation

Won’t you please bring an ILM leadership qualification?

I don’t want a lot for Christmas

This is all I’m asking for

The opportunity to help my organisation grow, by boosting all I need to know

Please make your magic “Ho ho ho”, I want to Explore and Soar and Grow,

Make my wish come true, Santa all I want for Christmas is Tickety-Boo!

With Love and Seasonal Wishes from all at Tickety-Boo

With London 2012 Olympics fully under way now it’s easy to get caught up in the occasion of it all even from the comfort of your armchair! I wonder if whichever clever marketeer came up with the slogan “inspire a generation” really understood how perfectly it captures the essence of the games. Athletes from around the World giving their all in pursuit of success in this global arena under the intense scrutiny of the media and countless millions of followers.

So with true journalistic style we thought it would be a great time to look at the who, what, when, where, why and how of “ inspire” and how valuable that strap-line is to us all.

Who? human beings are infinitely capable of all kinds of action and behaviour – inspiring is all about choosing your own attitude and behaviour. We can all without doubt use the sporting values which the Ancient Greeks established in Olympia and so much of today’s games still adheres to as a reminder to measure our contribution against. Who can I inspire? simply by being true to yourself and choosing to be the best person you can be (and you know who that is) then you will inspire others whose lives you touch. Whilst inspiring Olympian sporting prowess may be predominantly focused on the young, generations of all ages can learn from their sheer determination, focus and self belief and drive for continuous improvement in personal bests and teamwork.

What? the dictionary definition of inspire includes “to infuse into the mind; to communicate to the spirit; to convey as by a divine or supernatural influence; to fill with what animates, enlivens or exalts.” And although Michael Phelps certainly shows superhuman talent in his achievements we are all capable of filling our World and others’ with what animates, enlivens or exalts.

When? Olympians eat, sleep and breathe their sport to gain the performance level required for success. Some perform at that level for decades, gaining success at a variety of Olympic events. What is stopping you from being consistently inspirational in all you do?

Where? at home, at work, at play. In every part of life.

Why? WHY NOT?

How? in all our actions and behaviour, sincerity and honesty make the difference between inspiring and disengaging. How often do we experience people who turn on their service or simulate their enthusiasm to us as customers? If only they realised we instinctively know they are not being authentic and they turn us off! You can choose to perform any task in life with enthusiasm and in an inspiring way or you can simply go through the motions.

As you read this I hope these questions inspire you to take action to reach whatever podium, medal or measure of success you have. My hope is that in the pursuit of your success, you take others along with you. My favourite quote on inspiration comes from Albert Einstein

“Try not to become a man of success but a man of value”

How do you view the longest day? Is it an opportunity to maximise the daylight hours to achieve more? Or do you dread the Summer Solstice as it signifies the Summer is turning and Winter is getting closer?

Your personal attitude in terms of positivity or negativity can have such a powerful effect on your effectiveness and success. We can choose to think of time as a precious commodity into which we pack all manner of things or we can choose to think of time running away from us and the things we haven’t had the opportunity to do. It’s a well used analogy but after you leave this life, will your life be defined by the start and end dates or by the dash in the middle that seperates them?

Whatever your choice of action, make your extra daylight hours worthwhile by focussing on what you can do or what you want. The power of positivity will help you to successfully achieve your goals and reach your true potential. The dash is surely what living is all about.

At last, it’s here the Tickety-Boo Blog!

I think it’s fair to say that we have been dragging our heels, in fact some of us have been actively resisting having a blog for some time. Mostly based on the concerns of
WHERE would we post it?
WHO’s going to do it?
WHEN will we find time to do it?
HOW often should we blog?
WHAT will we blog about?
and what is the purpose of it? (of course we wouldn’t ask the WHY question!?)

Fear not friends, where there are questions there are always solutions. Especially when those questions are open, specific and well formed. So what makes a well formed question? Well formed questions are assumed to have answers – eg How many words does this question have in it? There is a definite answer so this is well formed.

Why would people ask questions which they assume have no answer? What would be the purpose of ill formed questions? Without questions which we assume have no answer, we might never reach our true potential. They challenge our assumptions, open up our potential and create options for us to Explore Soar and Grow.

which brings us back to the question of our blog….our very own Blog Fairy has arrived to bring you all that’s new with Tickety-Boo, topical delights from the World of learning and all round fairy fun. She would also love your questions too (well or ill formed she really won’t mind)
So post us a question and The Blog Fairy will work her fairy magic to help you find the options that are right for you.
