New Year Resolutions and 5 a day
Here at Tickety-Boo Training we are having varying degrees of success with our resolutions for healthy living. Well done Fiona and Annie on your continued will power but please don’t tell me one more time there are over 100 calories in the biscuits I just ate!! And Stuart that healthy sandwich you just jogged out to get does smell incredibly like chips…..
We all make resolutions with the best intentions to do more or better but sometimes life just gets in the way and we fail to stick to them. That’s why as part of our development programmes we ask delegates to take time to focus on their goals – what you truly want to achieve. Then we encourage you to commit these goals to paper and even share them with colleagues – to give you much more chance of achieving them through your own focus and the support of others. It’s true – I do eat less biscuits when Annie is around!!
Prioritise those goals into the 5 most important for the following day and make a list. Making the list the night before allows your brain to start working on it subconsciously whilst your body sleeps and then in the morning you hit the ground running as they say. Just 5 a day in fruit and veg. to keep you healthy and 5 a day in goals to help you achieve – couldn’t be any easier really!
Another method to increase your potential for achievement is to review progress and create an action plan for continuous improvement. Whilst review looks back, action planning ensures a focus on the future so that instead of making mistakes we have learning moments which will help us to develop and grow in person and in business.
So here it is my action plan – get my exercise DVD on tonight so I lose lots of calories then eat all the biscuits in the office to get them out of temptations way! It’s forward planning – honest. My learning point is not having biscuits in the office so I’m really sorry for anyone who is planning to visit this year, better bring your own biscuits. And if you’re on a training programme with us soon please remind me at coffee time about the importance of 5 a day and that’s not 5 biscuits!
